FAMILY!!!!
Quick update! MY NEW COMPANION IS AWESOME!!!!!! Her name is Sister Adame! She is from Oregon and she is too great! We work really well together and she is boss at sharing the gospel! Plus she is willing to work hard and that's one of the most important things to me! This week we had 22 lessons in our area and 2 lessons at sites. Plus we have a new investigator!!! At sites we have contact books with all the referrals. Some of the referrals are specifically for our area so we call those first. Most of those I call don't answer or shut us down really quickly. I had been doing calls for about 2 hours and then I was getting tired. So I was planning to change my focus to something else but I got prompted to do one more call. So I did and I ended up calling a lady named Tanya and I taught her about the plan of salvation. She loved it and we are going to see her in person tomorrow! Ahh miracles happen when you listen to the spirit! Oooh scariest thing about being a trainer is having to drive the car in the scariest winter of icy doom and snow!!!! AHHH I HATE DRIVING IN SNOW! Its the scariest! And my GPS won't work so its even worse! We have a nice Subaru which does really well in the snow compared to the other mission cars and yet we still slide around like crazy. Yes mom, I am being a grandma while driving! Pray that we drive safely around here please!!! Random fact-- I'm at sites now on Friday and Sunday. My schedule is always changing. It kinda sucks that we have Visitor's Center on Sunday because we only get to go to sacrament meeting :( I have been trying to get that changed! We shall see what happens. Another random fact-- EVERY ONE IS GETTING SICK AGAIN! Sister Hardy, who lives in my house has stomach flu and now Sister Fitzgerald isn't doing to well. Its spreading and I have been using those little hand-sanitizers y'all sent me for Christmas like crazy. Good thing I got those! Pray everyone gets better because they are dropping like flies again! Another random fact-- My comp is so awesome that when she gave her first tour she did almost half of the whole tour. She is so smart! Last thing before I go. We had an AMAZING lesson with Karen! We taught her about prophets because she had a hard time with that. There are so many terrible rumors out here about our church. There was some mass killing from some crazy people and I don't know the details but the guy called himself a "prophet". So Karen at first wasn't interest at all about hearing about our Prophet Thomas S Monson, but then she had this change of heart in a split second. We started talking about how in the Bible there were prophets so why would god stop speaking through prophets today? We told her that of course, some people would claim to be prophets of God but that you can find out who speaks truth through prayer. She said she had never felt the way she did right then. She then said, "it's never too late for anyone, is it?" We committed her to pray about what we were teaching and about prophets and she said she for sure will. She used to talk so much about random stuff when we came over, but now she just wants to hear more about the gospel. She takes it in slower than most, but there is so much progress! Ahhh I love being on a mission! Well I have to run, but I love y'all so much! I really do wish I would hear from my siblings more! I miss their guts like crazy!!! Also send me pictures of y'alls faces!!! The church is so true and Heavenly Father is preparing a way for everyone. We just have to listen closely for the directions of which way to go. LOVE Y'ALL, Sister Call FAM BAM!
First, its official. I"M TRAINING!!! And I don't have transfers until tomorrow so I have not yet met her! BUT AHHHH SHE PROBABLY JUST ARRIVED IN OHIO!!! I"M SO NERVOUS!!!! BUT ALSO EXCITED!!!!! This week has been a heck of a crazy week. First we had zone conference last week and president decided to announce over the mic who was training rather than call each personally and ask us. SO UNEXPECTED! He even said he had never done it that way before, and the Assistants to the Presidents jaws dropped when he did it. I was pale white when he called my name first and asked me to stand. WOWZERS. I have only been out 2 transfers and I am training! This is crazy! So I get to meet her tomorrow! Also I get to start driving. Which I am also scared to death of because the snow and ice. AHHH!!! Speaking of snow and ice. THE WEATHER HERE IS CRAZY!!! Yesterday it was -16 degrees and I thought I was going to die! My toes are always numb along with my hands. I'm getting used to it though hahaha :) It was -20 something degrees on Sunday so they canceled all church meetings. But, they had a sacrament meeting in the visitors center. The coolest part was that there were a bunch of cadets from the West Point who were on a church history trip. They just so happened to be in Kirtland and were already planning to go to the Visitor's Center on Sunday. So then one of the Senior Elders called them up and asked if they would come give us the sacrament. They all were in uniform and they gave all the sacrament meeting talks. I guess they were part of "LDS club" at their school so they get to go on field trips. It was neat to hear some of their stories. Back on the subject of weather, it was so cold on Sunday, that they wouldn't even let us go to our areas so we were stuck inside all day which is really hard. Especially because we are so used to constantly doing things. We felt so unproductive compared to the usual, but we got lots of little tasks done. Oh yesterday we got 8 lessons in though to make up for it. It's no big deal or anything. Pshhh just 8 lessons! Valentines Day was fun! We heart attacked a bunch of people in our area. We even got some responses from less active people who never talked to us before. Hopefully we can get a better relationship with them soon and get them to come back to church. The Bob situation is under control finally! I don't know if he completely understands why we felt uncomfortable but he hasn't come since I talked to him last. He hasn't even called our phone! Hallelujah! I did tell him though that the Elders could teach him. He actually did still seem interested so we are going to get them over there. I'm trying to think if there is anything I am missing! Sounds like the family is doing great!!! Shout out to Mom, Dad, and Kenny for writing me!!!! I don't have much time to respond to everyone this week, but y'all da bomb! Its also so great to hear about the missionary work going on over there! Keep it up! I LOVE Y"ALL TO PIECES!!!! I am so grateful for all the experiences I have had and all the wonderful things I have learned. I hope that I am good enough to be a trainer and that I can impact my trainee in a positive way! The church is so true I have no doubt about that! Reading the Book of Mormon is by far one of my favorite things to do and I just have such a testimony of its' truth!!! Keep being awesome family!!!! AHHH I LOVE Y'ALL!!!!! Much much much love, Sister Katie Call :) P.s. Thanks for the Valentines package/candy! I can already feel my teeth rotting hahaha jk :) But really, thanks!!! |
