HI FAMILY
This week has been quite busy and a complete shift from last week. And Elder Bennett came this week so it made a big impact on how I looked at missionary work. After hearing all his suggestions on what to change or try out, I was super pumped to get out and makes some changes. And I can definitely say that we have seen many miracles since that meeting. In fact, this week we meet the rest of Sherry's family and we are teaching all of them now. They are all committed to baptism and are on their way. The daughter Heavenlee is the one most excited about us teaching her and she asked us when the soonest she could get baptized was. We now we have her on date for September 13th. Her mother, Sherry and brother Trent are next and now praying about their dates. Trent and Heavenlee also came to church this week and they loved it. Heavenlee is 15 and is loving young woman's and is planning to go to mutual this week. Trent is 9 and is planning to start meeting with the cubs! So thats all great!
We also visited a member family this week and had an opportunity to role play with them. Have they done any role playing with y'all back home? Role playing is the Lord's way of teaching missionaries. We do it a lot. And since the members are missionaries too, we have been role playing with the members. Anyway, in this lesson we were having we asked them to role play with us and it was very very very uncomfortable at first but by the end of the lesson they both committed to do better with their missionary work. (And when I say role playing, I mean practicing talking to people about the church. It feels super dumb at first but it works miracles when you are out and about and run into people.) It was also neat because after we started talking about missionary work, they had lots of questions they themselves wanted answered before trying to share the gospel. Since we involved them more, it was less of them just listening and more of them asking and getting involved. It turned out they had some doubts themselves about the church and because we role played with them, we were able to clear things up. Ahhh! Miracles!
This week we also found Cara again! It turns out she got a job which is why we weren't able to find her. Plus her home phone (which is her only phone) is broken and every time she answers no one can hear her talking. Soooo we were able to start up the lessons again with her now that we know her work schedule. Plus she lives super close to Sherry's family so it will be easy to stop by often! We also finally found car seats for Cara's kids so now we can get them to church! Her kids are sooo super crazy plus Sherry's younger kids, so our ward is going to get a little rowdier than it has been hahaha :)
This week we also had the chance to go to what they call Blast-Off at Kent state where all the incoming students come to check out all the on campus clubs. We had a LDS Young Single Adult table set up and we were able to go and proselyte to all the students there. We gave out soooo many cards, pamphlets, Book of Mormons that it was insane. I think we gave out around 50 Book of Mormons. We were completely out by the end! We should have brought more! We also have a large group of people planning to check out the institute program on campus and we hope to find more investigators through that. Michelle actually brought up two of her sorority friends to our table and now they also want to start learning more about the church so they will be coming with her to her next lesson. Ahhh!!! Its just a matter of time until this area is exploding! I love love love this area! There is so much to do! But man oh man did I miss the work! We didn't even get back to our area until Thursday because of car problems. But we were soooo much more effective because that long stretch of not being in the area made us realize how important our time was. Plus Sister Fitzgerald is seeming to feel better so we were able to get a bunch more done so yay! :)
Well, all is getting better! I have talked to President about our situation a little more this week and he is planning to make some big changes with this area next transfer. Of course now that the work starts exploding, I am probably going to get transferred. Haha oh wellll :) Well I am so grateful to be out and about again and I just love love love being a missionary. I can't believe that I have been out as long as I have and I kinda don't ever want to leave. No offense family :) Although I super do miss y'all! I just love getting to serve and also getting to focus on the gospel and others 24/7. The church is true! And nothing else could make me more happier than the Gospel of Jesus Christ! I love love love you family!!!!
Love,
Sister Call
