Hey fam bam
It's been another good week. We have been working on finding a bunch in our area and we have seen some miracles. One day in particular we had been out contacting and tracting most of the day and it was pretty terrible. Every door we knocked on and every person we talked to just wasnt in the slightest bit interested and we were getting a little frustrated. We were about to give up hope and just head to our dinner appointment that was in a few minutes but we decided to knock on just one more door. So we did and a boy answered and he called his mom over. At first she seemed annoyed and we thought she was going to tell us to leave but then we just started to teach the restoration. Right then and there. Sister Janairo whipped out the Book of Mormon, placed it in her hands, and seconds later we had scheduled return appointment. When all that day seemed so blah and pointless, we found one family who would listen. We have had miracles similar each day and I think it's been really neat for both Sister Janairo and I to experience. We know that those miracles come from working hard and giving all we have to the Lord. We had another experience that was pretty neat. We had been at another day full of tracting and contacting and we were driving to an former investigators home when we saw a man walking down the street. I quickly stopped the car and we invited him to the nativity exhibit that is coming up at the visitors center. After talking with him for a few seconds we learned that he had studied with missionaries before and he has been reading the Book of Mormon. WHAT?! The most random man on the street and he was so prepared! So we will be seeing him this week :) Also a few weeks ago we found a guy named Brandon who had some interest in learning more about the church, but after the first contact we hadn't been able to see him again. So we tried stopping by the other day and he wasn't there again. But while we were trying to figure out where we would go next his friend came and we started to talk to him. So then his friend, Antonio, calls up Brandon and tells him to come home. So in the meantime we taught his friend Antonio and then when Brandon got there we taught him as well. We aren't sure how serious about learning they are, but it was still a miracle that his friend came at the perfect time. So yup, that's what has been going on. Lots of finding. It's been teaching both Sister Janairo and I a lot of patience though. And its been such a blessing to see some miracles come out of all the hard work.I can't think of much else of what is new. Sites has been slow and I haven't heard from my French friend since the attacks in France :( I hope she is doing alright. But I have been talking to several new people from around the world, mostly less actives currently. Also today we received some training from church headquarters about Christmas and this season is going to be good! Last year they made the video He is the Gift but this year they have two new videos that are coming out November 29th. They are amazing! So keep your eyes open for that. Also I haven't heard back from Sister Afoa about Cara and her baptism, but I did hear that Trent should be getting baptized this Saturday! So that's exciting! Well, the church is true!!! And I love my mission so much! I don't ever want to leave and the time really is flying by wayyyy to fast. Well that's all. I LOVE Y'ALL! Be good! The church is true! Love, Sister Katie Call. Hi family! This week has been pretty crazy! My oh my I forgot what it was like to serve in the visitors center. We were there practically all week! We only had 2.5 days in our area. And most of the time we had in our area, we were out tracting and contacting for new people to teach. Our area needs some miracles!
But the ward is great and they are so willing to help us out. We had ward council the other day and my oh my does that ward really care about the missionary efforts. They actually want to help us with the investigators and teaching! Now we just need some people to teach... The veterans program was this week and it was pretty great! We even made the newspaper. I got to sing in a little trio and then I had a "quicky" solo during one of the group numbers. It was pretty neat. And there were quite a few non-members there and they loved the whole program! In fact I am sure we will see a lot of them back for nativities in a couple of weeks. And hopefully by then the site starts to get a little busier. In the four days we were at sites I think we only took 2 tours. The cold weather scares people away I think. Well my online investigators are doing pretty swell as well! It was so weird not talking to them during my time as a full proselyting sister and I was a little worried about losing them, but they are still going strong. One of them is Courtney and she lives off the coast of France. She currently lives on a small island where there aren't any local missionaries and her family doesn't want her talking to missionaries. But it sounds like she's going to school pretty soon and there she should actually be able to meet with some missionaries in person. I think if she can meet with some local missionaries soon, that she can be baptized asap. She has had all the lessons now, she just needs to go to church :) Well thats all for now! I LOVE YOU FAM BAM! Also shout out to Emy and Anson!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAYS!!!!!!! Did both y'all get your cards? Anson's might still be in the mail. Anyway, the church is true! I know that Heavenly Father loves us and continues to guide us with His inspired leaders! The Prophet and Apostles are called of God and are here on earth to direct us as God would have them. Our Heavenly Father knows so much better than we do and it comes to us trusting Him and His leaders even when the world says to do otherwise. Be good family! Love you all! Love, Sister Katie Call |
