AHHH!!! I super ran out of time today!!! I'll tell you as much as I can really quick! ( I got like 50 emails today and thought I had enough time to respond to a couple but I didn't! So sorry!)
My week has been crazy! Okay, so a Sister left in the middle of the week because she finished her mission and we had an emergency transfer. I am now in a trio and we are covering two areas. SO CRAZY! Also super confusing. Especially with the Visitor Center life to add on. We only have like two days this week in each area. And we don't even know which ward we should attend because they're both at the same time! Oh... and on top of that, the Sisters are dropping like flies. Everyone is getting the flu because I guess the flu evolved or something. With Visitor Center housing there are four to ten sisters in each house and so everything spreads like crazy. Four of the six girls in my house are super sick including one of my companions. I'm like freaking out hoping I won't catch what they have. Luckily, we all live close to each other so we can do emergency exchanges so all the sick sisters are together in one house, while the healthy ones, like me :), get to go out into ALL the areas (because we have to attempt to cover them all) and spread the great gospel! Wow-- its been insane here. AHHH It was so good to see and hear y'all this week!!!!!! Y'alls Christmas/week sounded way fun!!!! Once again, I'm super sorry I ran out of time!!! I will leave all my time next week for you guys I promise!!! And I will tell you about Christmas and everything! The church is so true and I have just seen so many amazing things happen. Heavenly Father knows me so well and knows exactly what I need and when I need it. He orchestrates everything so perfectly!!!! There is nothing more important to me then the Gospel and my family. I hope everything back home is going well and keep me updated okay?!?! EMILY THAT MEANS YOU, YOU STINKER!!!! LOVE Y'ALL -Sister Call
The companion and I are doing great! We don't have baptisms this week, but miracles could happen and we could get some next week. Honestly we don't have any people that look like they are heading that way, but who knows.? The Lord's got a time for everything and my companion and I are making sure that we are ready and where the Lord wants us to be. We do have two potential investigators though. Before I came, the investigators either told the missionaries to stop coming, disappeared, or got baptized. So we don't have any current investigators, but we are surely praying for them! One really cool miracle happened this week. I mean, it was a pretty big deal to me especially because we rarely can find people who will let us get a word in. Okay so I'll give you some background to why this was such a miracle. We went to our district meeting and had a scheduled appointment to meet with the members after. By the end of our district meeting, we remembered that we had to practice for a song that we are going to sing in sacrament meeting this Sunday so we called so see if we could push back our appointment. It all worked out nicely. After our practice we were driving to the members home and missed the street we were suppose to take. It was super weird that we missed the street because we take it all the time! Anyway we just decided that we'd take the next street to get there because they both lead to the same neighborhood. Okay so we are on this street that we've never taken and my companion and I both see this sort-of-older lady trying to take her trash cans from the curb back to her house. We both thought of stopping to help but we didn't say anything because we were on our way to an appointment. Then at a stop signwe both looked back and the lady had dropped both her trash cans. We quickly decided we would pull over and help. We jumped out and I pretty much ran over to help her. (my companion has an ingrown toenail so she was limping behind me and was like "gooooooo onnnn" It was like a movie. very dramatic). I was kind of worried that she would be annoyed because she just looked like one of those "always annoyed" people. But the second she saw me she just smiled so big. I asked her if I could help and she said yes but the trash cans are very heavy. They were like feathers. Poor thing just had surgery and could barely bend down. Okay so i helped her put her trash cans were she needed them and then she so kindly invited us into her house. We told her we only had 5 minutes but she insisted. (By the way her name is Karen and good thing she insisted because we were dumb and almost didn't take the opportunity. Just keep in mind this is the first person who actually invited us in. I didn't even know how to react.) Okay so we go in and she, in 5 minutes, spills her guts and life story and is just so sweet and kind and open. Karen then says, "I'm usually not like this but for some reason I just feel I can really trust you. There is just something about you girls!" We both were just so happy and then asked her about how religious she was and such. She was once Jewish and then stopped going because I guess her church kicked her out because she stopped going. She was appalled and decided that all churches were messed up. She did say though that she was "spiritual". She said she believed there was a God but decided it was unnecessary to go church because she can be spiritual on her own. So we gave her a brief introduction and asked her if we could do some service for her. She was so excited and asked when we could come back so we could just talk to her. Funny thing, she asked us if we wanted coffee or tea but we told her we don't drink that stuff. So then she said, well next week I'll have hot cocoa and cider ready for you guys. She is just too cute! So she said yes to service, and to talking, but she doesn't want us to try to teach her. (at least not yet ha ha) But this was huge because my companion and I have recently been praying and searching so hard for investigators. It's just so beyond cool to see the Lord's hand in my life! He orchestrates things so perfectly. If we hadn't pushed back our appointment and had taken the other street, we would have never meet this lady. But it all worked out and that's because God put us in the right place at the right time. AHHH I LOVE MY MISSION!!!! I am beyond grateful for the things that I've experienced so far!
Love, Sister Call Okay, so I don't have much type to write because Sister Burns and I are going to the Johnson Farm really soon with one of the senior couples and its like 45 mins away. We have to go though because its closed part of the year and we also don't want to go in the summer because it's crazzzzyyy during the summer. Too many people. Anyways, I'll tell you about my week really quick and shortened...
This week has been pretty awesome here. It's super weird because I feel like I have two different lives. I have my visitor center life and then I have my proselyting area life. It's great though. Due to the splitting of time though, it's a little difficult to be able to have time to do everything we need to in our area. This week we especially focused on the members and getting to know them. We also have been meeting with all the less actives in the area and there are a lot! But it's great cause we get to go give them service and help them feel loved. This week we had 14 lessons which ain't too bad considering only being able to go to our area 4 days in the week. So we're working hard getting all sorts of things done. Ah... missionary work makes me happy!!!! On Saturday I was proselyting and this super high guy way hanging out his window whistling at my companion and I and said,"hheeeeeyyyyyyyyuhhhh" and he was super creepy. But we just laughed it off trying to make ourselves feel more comfortable. This area is way sketch. It turns out that it was recently an Elders' area because of how sketch it is, but then since there are so many new Sister missionaries now, they decided to open it up again for sisters. Worries me a little, but mom and dad, we will be okay because we mostly do our proselyting during daylight time. Plus prayers work and we definitely know when we need to leave. The Holy Ghost has been a great warning voice! Okay, another funny thing that happened was that we went to this house and a teenage girl answered. She looked at us super confused and then he two younger brothers ran to the door in excitement. Okay, so everyone here has two doors, first there screen/glass door and then their outside door. Anyway, one of the boys comes out the screen door, stands about a foot away from our faces and just stares and smiles at us. His aunt then comes grouching in and pulls him back into the house ans says "no no no we don't wantcha, we do not want to hears whatcha has to say!" and then slams the door. We were like alrighty and started walking to the next house when the two boys come running outside and stopped us. They said "we want cha card! Was that Jesus on the card? We want cha card!" (We were handing out "He is the Gift" cards.) So then we start telling them about the video they can watch and they take the card and walk away. We start to head off and then I turn back and wave bye. Then one of the boys yells out, "Can I have your numba???" (like that one youtube video if anyone knows that reference) And Sister Burns and I start laughing. He then said "Nahh really! I'm being serious!!!" We then pause. Look at each other. Look back at him. look back at each other. Then I said, "uhhh I think we're a little old for ya." and he says, "come on I'm 15!!!" And then we laughed way hard and continued to walk away. It was hilarious. You had to be there. Last quick story. We went to this guy's door and invited him to nativities and to watch the He is The Gift video. He was super nice and introduced himself. (keep in mind, this man is a beautiful 26ish year old guy) and he asks us our names and it was funny because I forgot my name and looked at Sister Burns and then looked at him. Then I looked at Sister Burns and then looked at him again. And then I thought a little bit more. Then I looked at my name tag and pointed to it. I forgot my name. It was hilarious. And embarrassing. And I forgot how to talk to boys. Anyways, so that happened. I'll tell you more about my experiences next week! I should have way more time. I love you family!!!! |
