'Hey family!
This week was a little crazy but it was a great one!
So we stopped by one of our former investigators, Brandon and started teaching him again. He is a young black man who is hilarious. I think he is like 21 and he calls us his "lady sisters". So when he saw us he got really excited and told us about how he really needed a to change his life. We stopped visiting him a couple months back because he flamed (didn't show for his lessons) us so many times and never kept his commitments. But we were inspired to go back this week and he really really wants to get baptized. We set a date with him for March 12th I believe, but we will see if he makes it. He is so flaky its insane and he was suppose to come to church yesterday but he didnt show. We even set up a ride for him and everything and he didnt even call to let us know he wasnt coming.... ugg where are peoples' manners?... But we got a text from him this morning and he still really wants to get baptized still, so we are going to try to see him today.
But also this week when we were visiting Brandon, we met his friend Tahji and we taught him the restoration outside in the 10 degree weather for 30 minutes which was fun and we also committed him to get baptized on March 12. He was all about it! Turns out he lives literally one street out from our area but he is still is in our ward boundaries. So the Elders in our ward will start teaching him. He was sooooo solid though and it was a really neat experience.
We also had a some more miracles with finding less actives. We had three less active families at church this Sunday and it was so great to see the ward really reaching out to them. Mary Claire also came to church this week and she hit it off with one of our other returning member Sisters Haserot. Turns out they live super close to each other and they want to get together. Sister Haserot even asked Mary Claire if she could come over when we teach her next! Woohoo go Sister Haserot!
This week we werent super successful with finding people when tracting and contacting because it was so cold that no one even wanted to open the door to their homes. They wanted to keep the warm air in. So they talked to us through their windows. We were tracting everyday in like 10 degree weather and I am surprised I still have my toes. But moms toe warmers she sent me sure helped!
The Takacs family is doing great! They are soooo excited for the baptism coming up and they have been inviting everyone they know to go to it! Sister Takacs has a couple of friends that she is hoping to invite to take missionary discussions as well! She said its been amazing to see the change in her life ever since she started living the gospel principles and standards again. So now she wants to share that joy with everyone she can :)
We also met this crazy man named James when we were out contacting. Turns out he lives in his car and he sees us contacting there all the time. He said he wanted to come to church so we gave him the address and directions and what not and taught him a little. We left our phone number with him and ever since he has been calling us every day with questions. Hahaha he's a hoot! He didnt end up coming to church this last week though because he got lost but he is excited to come next week.
My online investigators are doing great! I had a really cool miracle this last week with someone I had talked to a month or two ago. She called mormon.org because she was having a freak out. She had been getting taught by the missionaries and was supposed to get baptized but backed out and dropped the missionaries last minute. So we talked to her and invited her to call the missionaries back and set a baptismal date with them again. We told her we would call her back in the future to see how she was doing but we hadnt had time to get to her until this week. But then I realized this week that I had missed one number in her phone number when making her contact. So I felt like there was nothing I could do and was about to delete her contact. But then I kept getting a strong strong strong impression to call her. I was so confused and I had no idea how I was suppose to get a hold of this girl. But I knew I was suppose to. So then I went out looking for some senior couples to help me figure out the different area codes for her area but that didnt work out. So the only thing I could do was start trying out random numbers until I found her. About 12 or 13 calls in I found her and turns out that right after we had talked to her on the phone, she went to pray and knew that she was suppose to get baptized. So she did what we had invited her to do and she ended up getting baptized that next week! It was so cool to hear her story and its crazy how one small act or conversation led her to making eternal commitments with her Heavenly Father. She was so happy when we had called he because she wanted to thank us and she was grateful that we didnt forget about her. So that is an experience that I will never forget!
Well I am out of time again! I just love y'all all so much and I miss y'all! But boy oh boy am I grateful for this opportunity to help in the Lords work! I am so grateful for the many opportunities and things that I have learned here that I couldn't have learned anywhere else. The church is true! This is Christ's church restored in the earth today! Our Heavenly Father loves us so much and He will never lead us astray!!!! I love love love the Book of Mormon! As have read its pages, I have come to a sure knowledge and testimony that it comes from our Father in Heaven. Thanks mom and dad for showing me the way! I love y'all!
Talk to you next week :)
