How are y'all doing? Sounds like a stressful New Year but one full of lessons :) I AM SO HAPPY YOU FOUND ANDI. Mom told me about her running away in a very long paragraph and it was freaking me out in the beginning cause I thought she was gone forever. But then I got to the end of the paragraph and was overwhelmed with joy :))))
Okay just so mom and paps don't worry, I am have not yet caught this mysterious flu that is drifting around. Actually everyone here seems to be getting a lot better. I have been eating my soup that y'all have so kindly provided and taken vitamins everyday. I don't have any medicine yet though, so today I'm hoping I can go buy some.
Okay, so last week I didn't have much time so now I'll tell you two weeks worth of what I've been doing. For Christmas we ate at a super sweet member's home, the Gervasi's. They had four kids in from college and it was so nice to talk to people my age. That day we later went to the visitor center where they have a yearly Christmas tradition of doing a cute little talent show. All the senior missionaries did really cute stuff like singing or reciting a Christmas story, and then the Sisters all did really funny skits. We did a synchronized swimming skit. It was pretty cute :) P.S. THANK YOU FOR THE CHRISTMAS PRESENTS!!!! Y'ALL ARE THE BEST!!!! I COULD NOT ASK FOR A BETTER FAMILY!!!
Okay, so more information about my new companion, her name is Sister Sorensen. She actually already lives in our little house so she didn't have to move or anything. We are in a trio now and we are over both Perry, and Shaker Heights. Its been crazy! Very stressful also. But we've made it work. Transfers are tomorrow and then it will be back to normal.
Oh oh oh I just learned that I might be training next transfer because 8 new sisters are coming in and 8 sisters are leaving. With Sister training leaders and 2 people in the process of training, that means all the other sisters with the exception of two are training. And those two who don't train, will be training the next transfer because another 2 sisters are coming in!!!! AHHH EVERYONE IS GOING TO BE TRAINING AT THE SAME TIME!!! I hope those last couple of sentences made sentence.
Also, two Sundays ago (Dec 28) I got to give a talk in Sacrament Meeting! It was a way awesome experience!!!! I wasn't to happy about it at first because they told me the night before at like 8pm and I literally never have time to do anything. But some how I was able to whip one out and I got a great response from the ward! In fact our meal calendar that Sunday got full for the next two months. YAY FOR FOOD :) I hope y'all are feeding the missionaries back home. Wow, I never realized how much that means to those missionaries!
Oh another thing... so all the missionaries have to sing in ward choir because literally no one goes and the director is back and forth inactive (we call it the missionary choir because 2 other members sing besides us.) Anyway, the sister who is in charge of putting the musical numbers together for sacrament always sits next to me in choir practice. I had no idea that was her calling and I sort of regret sitting next to her because she just asked me to sing for this upcoming Sunday. Poop. Especially because church now starts at 9am and my voice ain't good in the morn. Oh well. Positive thoughts, Positive thoughts -- hahah :)
To answer moms questions from last week-- Sites were crazy the week of Christmas! A news reporter came in to introduce the nativities. A huge flood of people came a couple hours after it aired. That was cool! Now sites are wayyy slow. Like no one comes in. Except yesterday we had one couple traveling down to Utah and stopped by for a tour. I gave a tour for the first time in weeks. Tours rarely happen during the winter. Oh and chats on mormon.org <http://mormon.org> have been super slow. It keeps us busy most of the time, but a lot of the computers have broke recently so we have to take turns, which can make for a long day. I'd say 50% of people that I have talked to on chat are trollers. But that's okay. Its surprising how much they learn from us as they try to mess with us. I was talking to one guy on chat and he was trying to make me say something negative. He kept trying to set up his questions so that I would answer in the way he wanted me to, but I didn't let him. I think I made him frustrated --oops. But then later he came back on and was like, "Dang this church must be true!" and then left chat again. IT WAS AWESOME!
I don't know what else I am forgetting to tell you about. Feel free to send more questions. The work this week has been crazy especially because we have been working in 2 and sometimes 3 areas. I think I have had an average of 1, maybe 2, days a week in my area. The work is pushing along though. I think I'm really opening up though. Heavenly Father has helped me build that courage! In the beginning I didn't necessarily feel like myself cause I'm usually pretty out-going. I feel like my trainer was trying to shape me maybe a little too much. Like she wanted me to be a mini her. But I didn't want that. I want to be me. I mean, the Sister Call me. And that's what I am. Do you catch my drift? (interpretation- Do you know what I mean?)
Life is getting a little more easier, I have made wiggle room in my super "black and white", as dad would say, companion. We have reached the gray father!!! And we are getting to business if you know what I mean. Hopefully, some of that made sense. But I love my companion! I am learning a lot from her. Mostly patience and being more loving and charitable. I have found that the more I serve her, the easier it is for her to trust me and give me some hold of the reins.
Overall, everything is great! I am happy and I just want everyone else to be happy!!!! The church is true family! Don't ever forget it! I can't even explain how grateful I am for all the many things I've been blessed with! Heavenly Father knows my every need and if i go forward in faith, He will be there to catch me when I fall. And that's a lot. (I'm a klutz. But really I keep falling up the stairs in the visitors center and Sister Burns just dies laughing everytime. It's rough. Wow- I'm ADHD).
I also know WITHOUT A DOUBT that the scriptures are true and awesome! I think one of my favorite parts of the day is personal study where I get to read my Book of Mormon. Its crazy how much you learn and what you learn from the book. I mean I have read it so many times and I still learn from it. I swear its like the pages change to give me exactly what i need. The scriptures are such a spiritual boost for the start of my day! I have found that if I go into my studies with a question, that I always come out with an answer! Heavenly Father loves each and everyone of us. The sky is raining with blessings from Heavenly Father and we just need to reach out from under our umbrella and grab them (that is an analogy used in one if Dieter F Uchtdorf's talks).
THE CHURCH IS TRUE PEOPLE!!! Now go find that for yourself. Heavenly Father is waiting :)
I love y'all with all my heart!
